About project
Project “Design documentary” starts from “Design cinema nights” in Vilnius public area during five evenings lasting design movies festival. Films will be presented by design professionals. Afterwards film session open discussions will taka a place.
Audience is voting for movies. After the festival a winner will be selected and that film will be translated on television.
This project is a part of Design Innovation Centre of Vilnius Academy of Arts prepared project “Design for City”.
General understanding about design in Lithuania is low. Design does not receive a proper television and press interest. Society receives wrong impression – design is something more than fashion, fast cars and house interior. Documentary movies will provide wider knowledge about various design fields, design importance and will encourage Lithuanian design integration into business and culture areas.
This project mission is to translate educative information about design, to rally around cinema and television screens purposive audience and all minded ones.
