About project
About project
It is planned to invite students from abroad to take a part in this pilot workshop. 5 students from LAHTI, 5 students from TAIK and 5 from Vilnius Academy of Arts. Project task will be formulated working in groups of 3 people (one student from each school). The main idea is to create 5 experimental founts of typography, which the best represent Vilnius, as European Culture Capital. For example: Baroque style Vilnius, Gothic style Vilnius, Wooden Žvėrynas architecture Vilnius, Theatre Vilnius and many others.
During the week of first stage of workshop, groups would collect photo and generalize material. Archetypical fragments of theme would be selected and created a sketch of fount garniture.
Second stage of workshop will be proceeding on-line. Groups would work in their schools and must to obtain founts. According to those founts visual slogans will be created for VILNIUS EUROPEAN CULTURE CAPITAL 2009.
During the third stage, while working on-line, projects for typographical VILNIUS EUROPEAN CULTURE CAPITAL 2009 souvenirs (T-shirts, post cards, bags) will be created. Some one should try to sell all above mentioned souvenirs and by doing so it is possible to collect the money for the accord of the final stage – to publish a book about this workshop.
All the material will be summarized by groups and added into a model of a book, which should be presented in 2010 in Vilnius or Frankfurt book fairs as a project or if there would be enough money to publish – as a book of polygraphy and as exhibition.
